Wind Powered Walking "Gadgets"

Theo Jansen
builds mobile sculptural creatures of plastic yellow tubes.
These skeletons which are able to walk on the wind.

The walking skeletons are powered by wind energy.
Eventually he wants "to put these animals out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives."

The Animaris Rhinoceros Transport is 4.70 meters tall, but can be set into motion by one person. Because of its height it catches enough wind to start moving.

It is equipped with passenger seats and can be used for transport.
However, "due to the fact that one must wait until strong wind comes from the right direction, living quarters must be made in the animal to make travel agreeable."
